Listowel, Ontario- As the 2024–2025 GOJHL season ends, the Listowel Cyclones reflect on a campaign filled with determination, growth, and unwavering community support. Entering the season as the defending Sutherland Cup Champions, expectations were high, and the Cyclones embraced the challenge with pride and perseverance.
The team concluded the regular season with a record of 32-14-3-1-1, securing 68 points and finishing 7th overall in the league standings. With a playoff berth clinched, the Cyclones faced off against the London Nationals in a hard-fought first-round series. Despite their best efforts, the Cyclones bowed out early, bringing an end to their quest for back-to-back championships.
Individually, several players rose to the occasion and made significant contributions throughout the season. Chris O’Flarherty led the team offensively with a standout 58-point campaign, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 34 more—leading the team in both categories. His consistent presence on the ice made him an invaluable asset game after game.
Wylie Birkett played a crucial role on the power play, leading the Cyclones in power-play assists, and elevated his game during the postseason, finishing as the team’s top scorer in the playoffs.
In goal, Riley Arts provided stability and confidence between the pipes. Facing 724 shots throughout the season, Arts turned away the vast majority, allowing only 75 goals and proving to be a backbone for the Cyclones’ defensive efforts.
While results on the ice are important, what truly defines the Cyclones organization is the strength and unity of the community behind it. The Cyclones proudly welcomed 13,750 fans through the doors this season—fans whose passion and loyalty fuel the team’s spirit. To our sponsors, volunteers, coaching staff, executives, and media partners such as CKNX, who ensure every game is heard live both in the arena and at home—we offer our deepest gratitude. Your commitment makes everything we do possible.
As the season concludes, we also recognize and thank our graduating players: Wylie Birkett, Camden McNevan, Tate Brenner, Benson Moore, and Captain Carter Coombs. These young men have worn the Cyclones jersey with pride, leadership, and dedication. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors. Once a Cyclone, always a Cyclone!
Thank you for being part of another incredible season. We look forward to seeing you back at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex for the 2025–2026 season. Until then—stay connected, stay proud, and stay Cyclones strong.
