Listowel, Ont- The 7Listowel Cyclones (15-7-1) were on the road over the weekend. They travelled to 21St. Thomas (6-14-2) and 13Strathroy (13-8-1).
The first game of the weekend was played against the St. Thomas Stars November 29th on Friday. First period saw the Stars score the first goal. The Cyclones would answer back with their first goal scored by Teague Vader who was assisted by Trent Harris. That goal would be at 1:55 of the period. Another goal by the Cyclones at 5:29 of the period would have them up by one. Colton Henderson getting his 6th of the season, assisted by Jack O’Donnell and Jordan Visneskie.
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be enough to win the game. The stars would answer back scoring a goal in the second and two more in the third. The Cyclones would lose 4-2. Jack Bree was in net making 23 saves.
Saturday, Nov 30th the Cyclones head to Strathroy to play the Rockets. First period action saw the Cyclones grab the first goal scored by Colton Henderson at 1:39 of the period. Jack O’Donnell and Jordan Visneskie both helping Henderson for the goal. The Rockets would tie the game at 4:18 of the period. The Cyclones on the powerplay and Harrison Meulensteen gets a goal. That powerplay goal would be assisted by Colton Henderson & Jordan Visneskie. Visneskie picking up his 11th assist of the season. Teegan Middleton would put the Cyclones up 3-1 in the first. An unassisted goal by Middleton at 10:39 of the first.
The second period you would have the Rockets score another goal. Middleton getting the puck to Meulensteen, who would then send it to Wylie Birkett. Birkett would put up the 4th goal for the Cyclones. The Rockets would put the final goal of the game in the second.
The Cyclones would win the game 4-3, as no goals by either team was scored in the third period. Riley Arts made 17 saves of the game.
The Cyclones are now 4th overall in the Western Conference and 7th overall in the GOJHL with 31 points.
NEXT ACTION: The Cyclones will be in Caledonia for both Friday & Saturday for the showcase. The first game they will be playing the 12Caledonia Corvairs (13-8-3) Dec 6. The second game they will be playing the 14Hamilton Kilty B’s (12-11-2) December 7th.
