Cyclones fall in close battle against London

Listowel, Ont- The Listowel Cyclones (11-5-1)  faced the London Nationals (11-5-2) for the second time this season on home ice. The Steve Kerr Memorial Arena was filled with 718 fans ready for Friday night action.

Starting in net would be Jack Bree for the Cyclones. First period action Wylie Birkett would score the first goal of the game. A beautiful play by his teammates Teague Vader and Mason Eurig grabbing the assist. Wyllie’s 8th goal of the season would come at 4:08 into the period. The Cyclones would score yet another goal of the game. Jordan Visneskie grabbing the goal, with Colton Henderson and Harrison Meulensteen by his side. That goal would be 12:32. The Nationals would score their goal with just minutes left in the first.

The second period, the Cyclones lead 2-1. The London Nationals would take the lead, but then Wylie Birkett getting his second goal of the game. Chris O’Flarherty and Tate Brenner pushing the puck to help get Birkett a top shelf goal with 11:03 into the second period.

The London Nationals would close off the game with two more goals, with a final score of 5-3. Jack Bree had 27 saves of the game!  Wylie Birkett finishes off the game, grabbing his 100th GOJHL career point! Congrats to Wylie on such an achievement!

NEXT ACTION: The Cyclones will be aiming to bounce back when they host the St. Mary’s Lincolns for Saturday November 16. The Cyclones are also hosting a very special game. The Cyclones will be having there 2005 Cherry Cup Winners play against the 2018 Sutherland Cup Winners. The Alumni Game will start 5:30. Once the alumni game is done, the Listowel Cyclones will be facing the St. Mary’s for regular season action for a 7:30 puck drop. Come out and support your Cyclones!
