Cyclones win two games during the GOJHL Showcase

Listowel, Ont- The 6Listowel Cyclones (17-7-1) were featured in the GOJHL Showcase over the weekend in Caledonia Ontario. The Showcase is one of the marque events in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Cyclones would in both games over the Showcase weekend!

Friday Dec 6th the Cyclones played the Showcase hosts, the 13Caledonia Convairs (13-10-3-1). First period action saw Chris O’Flaherty get the first of the game. That goal would come in at 2:36 of the period.  O’Flaherty picking up his 10th goal of the season.

Secord period the Convairs would tie it up, but it wouldn’t be enough. At 13:02 of the second, Colton Henderson would get his goal of the night. Both Teegan Middleton and Jordan Visneski getting there assists. Two second left of the second period, Chris Flaherty getting a goal. Tate Brenner and Wylie Birkett both getting the assist at 19:58 of the second period.

Third Period Cyclones are up 3-1. Jack O’Donnell and Colton Henderson making a great play to help Jordan Visneskie get his goal. That would be at 16:22 of the period. Riley Arts in net stopping 27 shots. The Cyclones would win a final score of 4-1.

Saturday, Dec 7th the Cyclones would play against the 16Hamilton Kilty B’s (12-13-2). The first period saw Harrison Meulensteen get the opening goal of the night. Both Dylan Szymanowski and Johnathan Cirone getting the assist. That goal would be at 14:29 of the period.

Second period saw Wylie Birkett get his goal of the night. Keaton Middleton and O’Flaherty setting up the play to get there assist at 2:26. The Kilty B’s would put their first goal up for the game.

Third period saw the final goal of the game scored unassisted by Cam McNevan.

Riley Arts was in net stop 16 shots. The two wins of the weekend push the Cyclones up another ranking spot to 6th overall in the league.

NEXT ACTION: The Cyclones travel down to face the 3St.Mary’s Lincolns for another “Battle of Perth County” December 12th.  Then the Cyclones are back on home ice Friday December 13th to face the 22Komoka Kings at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena.
