Listowel, Ont- The Listowel Cyclones have officially secured their spot in the GOJHL playoffs after a strong regular season finish. The Cyclones are looking to defend the Sutherland Cup, since winning the championship last season. The Sutherland cup is one of the oldest junior hockey trophy’s in the world. It has been around since 1934, and is featured at the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The team clinched their postseason berth with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires on February 21 at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena. However, they faced a tough challenge on February 23, falling 7-2 to the Chatham Maroons in an away matchup.
Despite the setback, the Cyclones currently 5th in the Western Conference, setting them up for an exciting playoff run. But before the postseason action begins, Listowel has one more major showdown at home.
Paddyfest Kick-Off Game – A Must-See Event!
Hockey fans in Listowel won’t want to miss the next home game on Friday, February 28, with puck drop at 7:30 PM. The Cyclones will take on the St. Thomas Stars in what promises to be one of the most anticipated games of the season.
Adding to the excitement, the Cyclones will be donning their special Paddyfest sweaters for the game. These unique jerseys are worn annually to celebrate the start of Paddyfest, a cherished local tradition that has been a staple in Listowel since 1977.
