Listowel, Ont- The Listowel Cyclones (13-6-1) picked up some more points, and moved up two more spots in the GOJHL Western Conference Standings. The Cyclones are now in the 5th spot in the conference.
Friday Nov 22nd, the Cyclones hosted the St. Mary’s Lincolns (16-5-0) at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena. The Lincolns are currently 1st in the Western Conference. It was another “Battle of Perth County” Friday night.
First period action the Lincolns scored the first goal, giving the Cyclones some momentum to react. A minute later Johnathan Cirone getting his first goal with the Cyclones at 19:41. Harrison Meulensteen getting the assist helping Cirone get the puck to the back of the net.
Second period there was lots of action on both sides of the ice. We would head into the third period tied 1-1.
The third period Jordan Visneski would score the game winning goal for the Cyclones. The Cyclones would win against the Lincolns at a final score of 2-1.
Riley Arts played net and made 27 saves. Attendance at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena was 505.
Sunday Nov 24, the Cyclones travelled down the 401 to face the Chatham Maroons (13-7-2). The Cyclones are fighting to take over the 4th spot from the Maroons in the standings.
First period Jack O’Donnell grabbing the first goal of the game with an assist, coming from Colton Henderson and Teague Vader. O’Donnell scoring his 4th goal of the year at 4:57 of the period. The Maroons would answer back a goal. At 18:36 of the period Teague Vader getting his goal that would come unassisted.
Cyclones start the second period leading 2-1. Wylie Birkett grabbing is 102nd point of his GOJHL with a goal against the Maroons. Birkett getting the goal with Tate Brenner and Teague Vader at 13:53 of the period. Colton Henderson would help put another goal up on the scoreboard for the Cyclones. Jack O’Donnell and Jordan Visneskie grabbing the assists at 16:38.
The third period at 18:01, Visneskie passing the puck to Aiden Renaud as his send the puck top shelf. The Cyclones would win against the Maroons 5-1. Riley Arts making 12 saves of the night.
The Listowel Cyclones are now 9th out of 23 teams in the GOJHL.
NEXT ACTION: The Cyclones will travel to St. Thomas, Friday November 29th. The St. Thomas Stars (5-12-2) are ranked 21st overall.
